Hotdish Hoedown 2008

A start on the Jell-O photos from 2008

The 2008 Hotdish Hoedown was dedicated to the memory of Karen Faster’s mother, Penny Bosselmann, who died December 30, 2007. Penny taught Karen her first hostessing skills, from greeting guests upon arrival to offering drinks to seeing people to the door when they were leaving.

When Karen was a child, her mother would bring green bean and cream-of-mushroom soup hotdish as the family’s contribution to the Advent supper at St. Luke Presbyterian Church. The Hotdish Hoedown bears an eery resemblance to those Advent suppers of long ago: potluck, metal folding chairs; running children; crafts; neighbors, children and parents having fun together; folding tables; singing; and advent wreaths that lit up.
